OKAY, SO AS FAR AS CTE OR THE GCEC THIS YEAR, WE ARE A LITTLE STEADY.

OUR 23-24 WHERE, DOWN A LITTLE BIT, BUT IT STAYS AVERAGE, DEPENDS ON WHAT TIME OF YEAR YOU TAKE THAT CENSUS DATE.

WE HAVE LITTLE OVER, A LITTLE UNDER 1,500 KIDS COMING TO GCEC EVERY DAY.

THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE OUR STUDENTS THAT ARE AT THE HOME CAMPUSES.

WE STILL HAVE PRINCIPLES CLASSES OR FRESHMAN LEVEL, SO IS SOPHOMORE LEVEL AND THEN SOME ELECTIVES ON HOME CAMPUSES THAT ARE ALL INCORPORATED IN THAT CTE TYPE CATEGORY.

AS FAR AS CERTIFICATIONS LAST YEAR, WE HAD 413 STUDENTS RECEIVE RECOGNIZED IBC.

WHAT I MEAN BY "RECOGNIZED" IS WE HAVE IBCS WHICH IS INDUSTRY-BASED CERTIFICATIONS.

WE HAVE SOME THAT WE GIVE THAT ARE NOT RECOGNIZED BY THE STATE.

WE GIVE STUDENTS FOOD HANDLERS CARD BECAUSE THEY CAN'T WORK IN A RESTAURANT WITHOUT IT.

ACCORDING TO THE STATE, IT'S NOT SOMETHING THEY THINK IS NECESSARY FOR INDUSTRY.

WE JUST SMILE AND STILL GIVE IT ANYWAY, BECAUSE WE THINK IT'S GOOD FOR KIDS.

SAME IS TRUE FOR OSHA AND WE GET HUNDREDS OF THOSE NOTIFICATIONS.

IF YOU WORK ON ANY JOB SITE IN THE COUNTRY, THEY TELL YOU "WITHOUT AN OSHA CERTIFICATION, YOU CAN'T WORK HERE".

WE DO HAVE CPR WE'RE ABOUT TO START.

WE HAVE LOTS OF CERTIFICATION THAT WE GIVE BECAUSE IT'S GOOD FOR BUSINESS.

IT'S NOT NECESSARILY ONE OF THE RECOGNIZED IBCS.

WE'RE GOING TO KEEP GIVING THEM JUST BECAUSE WE LACK THEM.THE WAY THAT IT WORKS FOR US, THEY KEEP CHANGING THE RULES.

I KNOW YOU ALL HAVE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE FOR TODAY [LAUGHTER] NEVER CHANGES OR RULES, RIGHT? WHAT WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO DO IS MAKE SURE THAT WE'VE GOT STUDENTS IN PROGRAMS, THAT THEY START AS A FRESHMAN.

IF THEY CHANGE THEIR MIND AS A SOPHOMORE, WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO GET THEM THROUGH THAT SENIOR YEAR BECAUSE THAT'S WHERE THE FUNDING COUNTS.

BECAUSE IF THEY'RE IN PATHWAY ALL THE WAY THROUGH, AND THEY GET THE IVC THAT GOES ON WITH THAT PATHWAY.

SO WE'VE DONE A VERY INTENTIONAL WORK TRYING TO SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE THOSE NUMBERS.

THAT'S REALLY WHERE WE'RE STRUGGLING.

WE HAD AN AUDIT IN SEPTEMBER.

THAT WAS WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR, WAS "WHAT ARE SOME WAYS THAT WE CAN IMPROVE WHAT WE'RE DOING?" WE CAN RECAPTURE SOME FUNDING, WE CAN MAKE SURE OUR PROGRAMS WORK AS BEST AS THEY POSSIBLY CAN.

SOMETIMES HAVING FRESH EYES IS ALWAYS HELPFUL.

THEY MAY SEE WHAT WE SEE, BUT MAYBE THEY SEE SOMETHING DIFFERENT, BECAUSE WHEN YOU'RE WRITING IT, YOU CAN ALWAYS SEE IT.

SOME OF THE STUFF THAT THEY CAME OUT WITH WERE THINGS THAT WE'D ALREADY THROWN AROUND AND DISCUSSED, BUT IT RE-ITERATED IT TO US THAT THESE ARE GOOD WAYS TO DO IT.

HERE'S SOME AREAS THAT THEY'VE HIT ON.

WE'RE GOING TO CAPTURE SOME CAREER DEVELOPMENT COURSES IN EIGHTH GRADE, SEPARATING THEM INTO SEMESTER CLASSES.

WE'RE GOING TO MAKE THEM CTE CLASSES, WHICH MEANS THAT WE GENERATE THOSE FOR FUNDING.

THAT ALLOWS US TO CAPTURE SOME OF THAT EIGHTH GRADE CLASSES, AND WE NEED TO GENERATE SOME WEIGHTED FUNDING FOR THAT.

MOST OF THE WEIGHTED FUNDING IN SOME OF THE CLASSES WAS 1.35, AND SO IT DOES GENERATE QUITE A BIT WHEN YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT 800 KIDS, SO IT'S A LITTLE BIT MORE.

WE'RE GOING TO MOVE SOME OF OUR TECH APPS, OR WE'RE GOING TO REPLACE OUR TECH APPS EIGHTH GRADE WITH A CLASS.

WE ALREADY HAVE PRINCIPLES OF AB.

WE'RE ALREADY DOING A SIMILAR CLASS, WE MIGHT AS WELL BRING IT DOWN.

THAT ONE'S WORTH FUNDING, THE OTHER ONE'S NOT.

AND THEN YOU RECAPTURE THAT, GROW THAT PROGRAM UP A LITTLE BIT MORE.

WE'RE ALSO GOING TO LIMIT OUR NON-CREDIT COURSE OFFERINGS TO SENIORS, SUCH AS LATE ARRIVAL, OR LEASE OFFICE AID, PREVIOUSLY THEY'VE HAD TWO.

THEY'RE NO LONGER GOING TO HAVE TWO, THEY'LL HAVE ONE.

HOPEFULLY THAT'LL KEEP SOME OF OUR KIDS IN THOSE SENIOR LEVEL PROGRAMS, ENCOURAGING THEM TO TAKE CLASSES INSTEAD OF JUST GO OR SLEEPING.

THEY SUB ONE OPTION, BUT NOT QUITE AS MUCH SO THEY CAN MAYBE BE ENCOURAGED TO STAY A LITTLE BIT MORE, WHICH IS ALSO FUNDING THE MORE CLASSES ARE IN.

AND THOSE ARE WORTH THE MOST FUND LIKE SENIOR CLASSES ARE WORTH THE HIGHEST RATINGS.

WE'RE ALSO GOING TO CAPTURE A FEW PATHWAYS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN CONSIDERED CTE BEFORE.

WE'VE ALWAYS HAD THEM, SO THEY'RE NOT NEW PROGRAMS. BUT WE'VE ALWAYS HAD KIDS IN THEM AND THEY'VE NOT BEEN CAPTURING FUNDING, LIKE OUR ATHLETIC TRAINING PROGRAM, WE HAVE LOTS OF KIDS THAT DO ATHLETIC TRAINING.

WE'RE GOING TO PUT THEM ON A PATHWAY SO WE CAN GENERATE FUNDING ON THAT.

WE'RE GOING TO KEEP THEM, MAYBE AGAIN, TWEAK IT JUST A LITTLE BIT.

YEAR BOOK, JOURNALISM, SAME THING.

THEY'VE ALWAYS BEEN IN THE PROGRAM, BUT WE'VE NEVER CAPTURED THEM FOR FUNDING.

AND SO WE WERE GOING TO FIT THEM IN A PATHWAY.

HOUSE CAN DO THE SAME THING.

AGAIN, IT GIVES THEM A COUPLE MORE ADVANTAGES.

BUT IT ALSO GENERATES FUNDING.

WE'RE REALLY JUST TRYING TO CAPTURE WHAT WE ALREADY DO, DO IT A LITTLE BIT BETTER, AND HELP WHAT WE HAVE. [NOISE] ONE OF THOSE SECOND LAST THING IS THE [INAUDIBLE] FOR SENIOR CLASSES.

WE HAVE A LOT OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN GPA CHASERS FOR LACK OF BETTER TERMS, WHICH JUST GREAT, BUT THEY'RE TRYING TO GO FOR THE TOP 10, THEY'RE TRYING TO DO A LOT OF DUAL CREDIT, BUT WHEN THEY GET TO SENIOR YEAR, THEY HAVE A LOT OF EXTRA ROOM IN THEIR SCHEDULE, AND SO NOW THAT WE MAKE THEM NOT HAVE QUITE AS MANY SPACES IN THEIR SCHEDULE RELIABLE WHERE THEY ATTAIN.

SO IF ARE INTERESTED LIKE, I'M GOING TO GO TO COLLEGE FOR ENGINEERING, THEY'VE NOT BEEN IN A PATHWAY THROUGH THEN THAT THEY A REALLY HIGH ACHIEVER.

SO FAR WE'VE TOLD THEM NO.

AND SO WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IS OPEN IT UP, SO IF THEY ARE A HIGH ACHIEVER, THEY ALREADY SAID THAT'S MY NATURE.

THEN WE'RE GOING TO TRY TO SEE HOW IT GOES AND LEFT THEM IN THOSE, SO WE CAN HELP GET THOSE KIDS AND CAPTURE THOSE KIDS BACK AND SEE IF WE CAN GET THEM A LITTLE BIT MORE, BUT THEY'VE ALREADY SHOWN TO US THEY HAVE THE ACADEMIC APTITUDE TO JUMP IN AT A LATER DATE TO SET OF HAVING TO START FROM SCRATCH.

SO WE'LL SEE HOW THAT GOES. AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO ADD FOURTH-YEAR ENGLISH.

WE TRIED BUSINESS ENGLISH THIS YEAR, I THINK IT'S GOING REALLY WELL.

WE'RE GOING TO DO THE SAME THING FOR FINANCIAL MATH, WHICH AGAIN ARE WEIGHTED FUNDING, SO THEY'RE WORTH A LITTLE BIT MORE IN DOLLAR-WISE.

I JUST FINISHED BORROWERS TODAY, SO NOW EVERY EIGHTH GRADERS HAD WITH THEIR OPTIONS ARE IN EIGHTH GRADE, AND THEN THEY'LL COME TO THE CEC THE WEEK BEFORE THANKSGIVING.

WE DON'T SPLIT IT AMONGST HOW MUCH THEY GENERATE.

WHAT WE DO, IS A NEEDS ASSESSMENT TO SEE WHO NEEDS WHAT, AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY HAS WHAT THEY NEED.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES CALLS ON THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE TO REJECT ANY DIVERSION OF PUBLIC DOLLARS TO PRIVATE ENTITIES IN THE FORM OF EDUCATION SAVINGS ACCOUNT AND SIMILAR VOUCHER SCHEME.
