[IV.A. Project Back to School]

THIS TIME, WE HAVE A PRESENTATION FOR PROJECT BACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON FOR SALES AND LANCE IS GOING TO MAKE PRESENTATIONS.

>> THANK YOU. MAY I SAY I WANT TO THANK THE BOARD MEMBERS, WE'VE HAD PRESENTATIONS FROM HERE, EVERY SCHOOL BOARD MEETING.

I'D LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU FOR YOU GUYS FOR SERVING AND DOUBT TO BE SOME KIND OF PRESENTATION ITSELF SO THANK YOU FOR SURE.

BUT THAT'S NOT WHY I'M HERE.

I WANTED TO RECOGNIZE THE LADY THAT REALLY DESERVES A LOT OF RECOGNITION.

THE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES RECOGNIZES CHERYL RITCHIE ON THE PROJECT BACK-TO-SCHOOL COMMITTEE FOR THEIR IMPACT ON THE STUDENTS, THE WICHITA FALLS ISD AND SUBMITTED AND RECOMMENDED BY HIGHER SUPERINTENDENT, DR. CONNIE LEIGH IN 2009, CHAIR WHERE HE FORMED A PROJECT BACK-TO-SCHOOL AS A WAY TO HELP DISADVANTAGED STUDENTS IN OUR COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING THEM WITH CUSTOM SCHOOL SUPPLY KITS AND BACKPACKS EACH YEAR BEFORE THE START OF A NEW YEAR.

THE PAST 15 YEARS, AS 15, THAT'S A TEENAGER.

I DON'T BLAME YOU FOR PASSING THAT ON.

PROJECT BACK TO SCHOOL HAS PROVIDED BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPORT FOR THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS, AND FAMILIES IN OUR COMMUNITY.

ON OCTOBER 1ST, PROJECT BACK-TO-SCHOOL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CHERYL RITCHIE OFFICIALLY RETIRED AND HAS HANDED THE PROJECT OVER TO, I'M GLAD TO SAY WICHITA FALLS ISD FOUNDATION BOARD.

WE MET DISCUSSED IT AND VOTED ON TAKING IT OVER.

THAT'S HOW BRILLIANT THIS LADY WAS.

SHE WASN'T GOING TO WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN.

SHE MADE SURE THAT THE PROJECT IS GOING TO KEEP GOING ON. THANK YOU FOR THAT.

NOW, TO BE OVERSEEN BY OUR BOARD AND THE PROJECT BACK-TO-SCHOOL COORDINATOR WILL BE MY STANDARD, LILLIAN HARRIS.

THANK GOODNESS, I FORGOT IT.

[APPLAUSE] THIS DOESN'T TELL THE WHOLE STORY BECAUSE I'M SURE THERE WAS A LOT OF NEGOTIATION BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN JANUARY GADOT AND CHERYL, AND THAT ALL HAPPENED BEYOND WHAT WE JUST SAW UPFRONT.

SO WE THANK BOTH OF YOU GUYS FOR GETTING TOGETHER AND GETTING THIS DONE.

AT THIS TIME, I'D LIKE TO PRESENT CHERYL, IF YOU'D COME ON UP.

THIS IS WITH DEEP APPRECIATION FOR YOUR YEARS OF SERVICE TO PROJECT BACK SCHOOL, PRESENTED TO CHERYL RITCHIE, 2009-2023, AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR YEARS.

[APPLAUSE] WE'RE GOING TO TAKE A PICTURE HERE. YOUR LIFE IS SHORT.

>> YOU DON'T HAVE TO MOVE SO NOW YOU DON'T KNOW THE DRILL.

YOU GOT TO BE RIGHT HERE.

DO ONE WITH THE THREE OF YOU AND THEN WE'LL HAVE THE FOUNDATION BOARD.

[00:05:03]

>> READY, 1, 2, 3.

[BACKGROUND] READY, 1, 2, 3.

PLEASE GO BACK YOUR NAME TAG.

>> HER NAME TAG WAS SHOWING.

>> AWESOME. PERFECT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. [APPLAUSE].

>> THAT'S GOOD STUFF. THANK YOU, CHERYL, SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR YEARS AND WHAT YOU'VE DONE FOR WICHITA BACK-TO-SCHOOL PROJECT.

AT THIS TIME, ONE OF OUR REGULAR BOARD MEETING PEOPLE

[V.A. Construction Update for WF Legacy High School and WF Memorial High School]

DAVID POTTER IS GOING TO GIVE US AN UPDATE ON OUR STUDENT HOSPITALS.

>> THANK YOU. GOOD EVENING BOARD, D. [INAUDIBLE] RESHAPED THE OPPORTUNITY YET.

WE HAVE MUCH MORE PROGRESS.

WE'LL START HERE WITH LEGACY.

WE ALWAYS TALK ABOUT THE WORK IN PROGRESS.

WE'RE STILL POURING LOTS OF CONCRETE ON SET WHEN THE WEATHER HAS BEEN GOOD AND WE'VE HAD A LOT OF GOOD WEATHER SO WE MADE A LOT OF PROGRESS.

WE ARE WORKING ON THE MONUMENT INTERESTS AND WE WERE DOING A MOCK-UP SO THAT WE MAKE SURE WE GET THE STANDARD, LIKE THE BEST LOCATION WE'RE WORKING ON MAKING SURE WE MEET THE CITY ORDINANCES AND THEN MAKE SURE WE GET THE BEST VIEW FROM THE HIGHWAY.

WE'RE PUTTING UP [INAUDIBLE] THE COMPETITION GYM AND CONCRETE STAIRS HAVE BEEN BOUGHT AND WE'RE WORKING ON COMPLETING THE SEATING.

THE ENTRY COLUMNS UPFRONT AT THE LOWER AREA TO TALL COLUMNS THEY'RE ALREADY BRIEFED IN BUT THE PEDESTRIAN ENTRYWAY THERE, AND THE COLUMN THEY'RE NOW BEING RIPPED UP.

WE'RE PAINTING DURING THE FOREIGN POLICY AND DIFFERENT PARTS AND SO THEY'D COMING UP.

ADDITIONALLY, IT WILL BE CONTAINING A LOT OF THE SAME BUT WILL BE POURING MORE CONCRETE LOCKER BASIS READY FOR THE ATHLETICS TO BE PREPPED FOR THE LOCKERS, WE'RE PUTTING UP THE INTERIOR RAILINGS, THE STAINLESS STEEL AND GLASS AND STEEL MESH RAILINGS.

WE'RE SETTING CASEWORK, WE'RE COMPLETED, COMPETITION, GYM PORES.

SOME OF THOSE ARE ALREADY FINISHED AND WE'RE FINISHING UP THE OTHER THREAT NOW, TAKE A FLOOD DRYWALL, LOTS OF PAINTING, LESS OF A DRYWALL WORK BEING DONE.

THEN WE'RE STARTING TO MIDDLE CEILINGS IN AREA B, WHICH IS THROUGHOUT THE COMMONS AREA.

YOU'LL ACTUALLY SEE THE CEILING TILE AND THE LAST VALUE IN THE COMMENTARY.

OF COURSE, WE HAVE THE LENGTH TO SEE THE EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING AND THEN THE SUM OF THE INTERIOR SHOTS HERE'S THE SAAS LAB AND YOU SEE THE KENNEDY WORK GOING IN WALL HUNG AND THE BASE MODELS.

YOU SEE SOME DRYWALL AND PAINT, YOU SEE SOME EXCELLENT COLORS AND THEN WE MOVE ON DOWN TO THE EXTRA VARIABILITY.

YOU STILL SEE THE BREAK FROM HERE GOING UP FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS WE SAW LASSA YELLOW EXTERIOR WALL WORD.

DID YOU SEE THE GREEN FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS AND NOW THAT YOU'RE ACTUALLY SEEING THE BREAK GOING AROUND, SO WE'RE WRAPPING UP THE BREAK AROUND THE BUILDING, MAKING GOOD PROGRESS THERE.

HERE'S THE MAIN ENTRY COLUMNS AT LEGACY.

I SPOKE [INAUDIBLE] I WAS SAYING ABOUT MEMORIAL THEIR HEAD AND THEY GOT THERE'S BRICKED UP IN LEXI IS JUST NOW, AGAIN, THERE'S CAUGHT UP GETTING THE OMEGA 4 COLUMNS OUT FRONT, THE BREAKDOWN.

ON THE INSIDE IN THE COMMUNIST AREA YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEXI MEMORIALS.

SEE THAT, THAT'S WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AT MEMORIAL, BUT NOW YOU'LL SEE THAT'S THE STRUCTURE AND THAT'S THE OPEN AREA AND COMMENTARY AND THEN MEMORIAL IMAGE AND SEE THE BLACK FIXTURES HAVE BEEN HUNG AND OF COURSE, YOU SEE THE HALLWAYS THERE WHERE WE'VE GOT POLISHED CONCRETE, THE CMO TITLE, ASSUMING GRID IS GOING IN, SO WE'RE MAKING PROGRESS ALL ALONG THE EDUCATIONAL CLASSROOM AREAS AND THEN WE HAVE A EXTERIOR VIEW.

YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH WORK IS BEING DONE AROUND THE TRACK AND FOOTBALL FIELD.

>> THE ONLY OPTION, I'VE FOUND IS NOW WE'RE DEALING WITH ESTIMATES.

>> THAT'S NOT ME.

[00:10:04]

[NOISE] YOU CAN IMAGINE WHEN THIS PHOTOGRAPH IS TAKEN, YOU CAN SEE HOW MUCH THE EXAM LET'S EXPOSED.

THEIR THEORY IS, YOU IMAGINE WHAT IT'S LIKE AFTER THE H PLUS RAIN.

BUT IN THE LESSON PLANNING, WE'RE JUST WORKING OUR WAY AROUND THAT.

THAT'S THE BANK SIDE OF LEGACY AND SO LOTS OF PROGRESS BEING MADE THERE AND THEY'RE PUSHING HARD. QUESTION?

>> ARE THOSE NEW PICTURES BECAUSE THERE'S A LOT OF GREEN GRASS AROUND LEGACY?

>> YEAH, THAT IS OCTOBER 6TH AND THE LAST WEEK.

BUT NOW THERE'S A LOT MORE.

THE GRASS THAT YOU SEE, I THINK MOSTLY AT LEGACY IS ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE LEFT, THE AREA ON THE WEST AND NORTHWEST IS WHERE THE RETENTION POND IS.

THERE'S LIGHT GREEN GRASS OVER THERE.

YOU JUST BARELY SEE IT AT THE TOP CORNER ALL THE WAY ACROSS.

NOW, WHEN YOU SEE MEMORIAL, YOU'LL SEE THEY HAVE GREEN GRASS ON THEIR PRACTICE FIELD.

HERE YOU JUST SEE WHAT IT'S GETTING STARTED. THERE'S SOME LEGACY AT MEMORIAL.

WORK IN PROGRESS.

COMPLETELY LEAVE THE BUS, LOOP DRIVE AND THE RING ROAD PAVEMENT.

BUT LEARNING CENTERS, YOU'VE GOT THE HANDRAILS, ACROSS THE BRIDGE.

DOES PENICILLIN HANDRAILS, THE TRACK AND FIELD SUBGRADE MATERIALS ARE BEING PLACED AND SO THEY'RE DOING A LOT OF EXTERIOR WORKED IN THE ATHLETIC AREA.

YOU'RE GETTING THAT GRAINY DONE THERE CONTINUING WITH THE MEALWORM. THEY ARE PUTTING UP.

THEY CAN'T BE ALSO THEIR MEMORIAL JUST LIKE OLDER LEGACY, THE MAIN ENTRY CAN BE STOLEN IS BEING PUT UP.

SO TALKING ABOUT THOSE EARLIER DISCUSSION ABOUT THOSE PEDESTRIAN COLUMNS.

SO YOU'LL SEE THAT LANDED ON HIS PHOTOGRAPHS.

LOOKING HEAD WILL WORK IT INTO MY INTENTION.

FRAMING AND DRYWALL.

WE'RE INSTALLING LAST FIXTURES AND AREA G, WHICH IS DOWN THE FINAL ARTS.

THE PRACTICE GM, IS PAINTING IS LOTS AND LOTS OF CONCRETE BLOCK TO BE PAINTED IN THE ATHLETIC AREA HAS TO BE FILLED AND JUST BE PAINTED MULTIPLE COATS.

AND SO IT IS A LOT OF PAINTING LEFT TO DO IN SCHOOLS.

HANDRAILS TO CROSS THE BRIDGE AND IN THE FINAL PAINTING.

AND THEN OUR LATE THERE TO THE SAT.

HERE, THE INTERIOR.

HERE'S A LITTLE FINISHED LOOK AT DESPAIR RAILINGS.

YOU SEE GOING UP THE LEARNING STYLE A LITTLE BIT.

THEN UP ON TOP, YOU CAN SEE THE RAILING METAL JOB IN THE COMMENTS AREA.

LOOKS REALLY NICE.

THE ARCTIC BALCONY VESTIBULE FRAMING AND YOU SEE WHERE WE'RE WRAPPING THAT UP.

YOU GET READY FOR DRYWALL.

AND THEN BELOW THAT TOO, YOU SEE THE STORM SHELTER.

LOTS AND LOTS OF PAINT INSIDE OF THERE TO LOTS OF PRECAST CONCRETE.

THE PAINTED AREAS SEE IN THE ADMIN AREA, THE MAIN RECEPTION AREA THERE AND PAINTING, DROUGHT, MILLWARD GOING IN AND BASS CABINETS, LOTS OF FINISHED WORK.

SO YOUR TOWEL BEGAN TO BE LAID IN LIGHT FIXTURES.

LOT OF PROGRESS IN THAT AREA.

AREA A, CORNER CEILING THAT'S ALONG THE MATH GRADE WAY AND YOU SEE THE FLOORS HAVE BEEN POLISHED, THE TILES ON THE WANE SCOPE, THE PAINTINGS ON THE WALLS, AND CEILING GRID LOT.

SO, PRETTY MUCH FINISHED LOOKING AT CORE, AND NOT GREATLY.

AND THEN OVER IN THE COLLABORATION SPACES WHERE THERE'S SOME WORK BEING DONE.

THERE ARE ALSO LOTS OF WORK ON THE HANDRAILS AND CEILING LIGHT FIXTURES.

AND THEN WE'LL FINISH UP HERE WITH THE FRONT VIEW MEMORIAL.

SO THERE YOU SEE, THEY'RE CALLED BEFORE B COLUMNS OR COMPLAINT, AND THE WORDING ON THE COLUMN AT THE ENTRY CAN'T BE THERE FOR THE PEDESTRIAN IN THE ADMIN AREA.

THAT AREA IS STARTED THE STONEWORK GOING UP THE CMU, SMOOTH ARCHITECTURAL STYLE ON THE BASIS AND THEN THE REGULAR GLOVE IN THERE.

AND YOU SEE WE'VE HAD THE SUNSCREENS, OLD COPY OF WINDOWS, THOSE HAVE BEEN ADDED.

YOU CAN SEE HOW THEY CAN PROTECT THE GLASS FROM THE SUN ANGLES AS WE GO THROUGH SEVERAL MONTHS.

SO, IT'S GOOD PROGRESS IN FRONT OF BUILDING.ANY QUESTIONS? THE PROGRESS, EVERYTHING'S WORKING WELL. VERY WELL.

AND SO I THINK YOU ONLY WANT TO SEE YOU SOMETIME SOON, SO YOU'LL GET EVEN A BETTER CLOSER LOOK.

THIS AND I HOPE YOU COME BACK AND PASSWORD.

[LAUGHTER]

>> THANK YOU, DAVID. WE HAVE THIS DIFFERENT INFORMATION REGARDING KIRBY MIDDLE SCHOOL.

[V.B. Information Regarding Kirby Middle School]

>> I WANTED TO SHARE SOME INFORMATION WITH YOU REGARDING FALL INTO MIDDLE SCHOOL OR THE STORE ASSESSMENT LAST SPRING.

AND AS YOU KNOW, WE DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE ARMORY, [LAUGHTER] BUT WE DO HAVE SOME PRELIMINARY DATA THAT THEY CAN SHARE WITH YOU THAT WILL GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF THE PROGRESS THAT WAS MADE A CURFEW,

[00:15:04]

STARTING TO SOLVE SIXTH GRADE.

AND YOU CAN SEE THERE THAT WE JUST WANT TO TAKE YOU THROUGH.

YOU HAVE A TREND THERE FOR STATE DATA AND KIRBY DATA STARTING IN 2021, PROGRESSING THROUGH THE SPRING OF 2023.

SO YOU CAN SEE HOW KIRBY PERFORMED AS COMPARED WITH THE STATE OVER TIME.

AND YOU'LL NOTICE THAT YOU ALSO HAVE INDICATORS AS TO HOW MANY STUDENTS WERE AT APPROACHES THESE INVESTORS AND HOW MANY STUDENTS DID NOT MEET THE STANDARD.

WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THE PROGRESS THAT WAS MADE.

THAT COMES DOWN TO MANY DIFFERENT VARIABLES, BUT VARIOUS VARIABLES, THERE'S NO SUBSTITUTE FOR GREAT TEACHING.

AND WE HAD THAT IN PLACE SINCE THESE GRADIENT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THE EFFORTS OF THE TEACHERS, I THINK YOU DID A GREAT JOB.

SEVENTH-GRADE READING.

WE WERE ALSO PLEASED.

EIGHTH GRADE RATING, WE STAYED PRETTY STEADY AT THE APPROACHES LEVEL.

WE LOST A LITTLE GRILL EIGHTH GRADE LEVEL AND ASKED HER, SHE [NOISE] ALSO WANTED YOU TO SEE WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN TERMS OF STUDENT COHORTS.

IF YOU LOOKED AT THE SIXTH GRADE CLASS IN 2022, AS COMPARED TO THEIR PERFORMANCES SEVENTH GRADERS, YOU CAN SEE AGAIN, WE HAVE SOME PROGRESS.

AND AGAIN, LOOKING AT THE SEVENTH GRADERS IN 2022 IS COMPARED TO THE PERFORMANCE IN 2023. SAY PRAYERS.

WE HAVE SOME APPROACHES LIKE THE PROGRESS.

WE WERE LOOKING FOR IT AND I'LL TAKE YOU THROUGH TO NOW.

SIXTH GRADE MATH. YOU CAN SEE AGAIN, SEVEN OR EIGHT, MATH.

WE DIDN'T MAKE PROGRESS.

WE WANTED TO MAKE THE EIGHTH GRADE MATH.

WE HAVE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN HERE.

SURE. COHORT DATA.

SIXTH GRADERS IN 2022, THAT'S GOING TO PAY FOR THEIR PERFORMANCE FOR SEVENTH GRADERS.

SEVENTH GRADERS IN 2022 IS COMPARING HOW THEY PERFORMED GREAT PROGRESS THERE AS WELL.

TO SCIENCE. THE SCIENCE OF THE APPROACHES.

WE DID NOT PERFORM WELL AT ALL.

AND SOME OF THE STUDIES ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE OUTCOME THERE.

I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU A SIDE-BY-SIDE AS TO THE SPORTS THAT WERE IN PLACE LAST YEAR AND HERBIE AND THE SUPPORTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN PLACE AT HERBIE.

AND YOU WILL SEE THAT SOME OF THOSE ARE MIRROR IMAGE.

WE CERTAINLY NOT ALONE, OUR COMMUNITY SUPPORT OR MENTORS OF SPONSORSHIPS THAT WE HADN'T HEARD ME LAST YEAR AND BEYOND.

AGAIN THIS YEAR, WE CONTINUE TO HAVE A LICENSE SUPPORT FROM OUR PARTNERS AT REGION.

WE HAVE PUBLIC CURRICULUM RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO OUR TEACHERS ASKED YOU GET LAUNCHED HERE.

WE HAVE THE DISTRICT DESIGN RTI ENRICHMENT PLAN IN PLACE.

ARE RTL ENRICHMENT RESOURCES HAVE CHANGED SLIGHTLY? YOU'LL NOTICE THAT BOTH MEMPHIS DISAPPEAR.

THAT WAS A STATE MANDATED PRODUCT THAT THE STATE NO LONGER SPONSORS FOR GROUPS.

SO YOU'LL SEE THERE AGAIN, WE MENTIONED PREVIOUSLY THAT WE STARTED THE EYE PREPARATION AND THAT TOOK PLACE THIS YEAR IN LIEU OF THE ISLAND.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT OR DOCSIS SPHERE, SHE'S ON SITE MOST OF HER BIRTHDAY.

WE HAVE DISTRICT DEVELOP TRACKING SYSTEMS FOR DATA.

STUDENTS TRACK THEIR DATA TEACHER STRIKE THAT.

AND WE CAN TRACK CAMPUS DATA.

WE DO COMMON ASSESSMENTS WHERE YOU CAN EXIT TICKETS TO MAKE SURE KIDS ARE MAKING PROGRESS.

WE HAVE A LARGER ASSESSMENT, ARE STILL STAR THAT'S MANDATED BY THE STATE AND ALSO HAVE NOW WE HAVEN'T DEDICATED PLC TIME EACH DAY FOR TEACHERS.

AND HERE'S THE BIG CHANGE.

YOU ALL MAY BE AWARE THAT LAST YEAR, OUR DISTRICT LEVEL CURRICULUM SPECIALISTS LITERALLY TAUGHT CLASSES AT KIRBY BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR.

WE DID NOT DO THAT.

THIS YEAR WE HAVE THEM WORKING AT KIRBY IN SUPPORT OF TEACHERS.

THEY MEET DAILY WITH TEACHERS.

THEY HELP TEACHERS PLAN ASSESSMENTS, LESSONS, ACTIVITIES, AND THEY MODEL LESSONS FOR TEACHERS.

WE DO A GRADUAL RELEASE MODEL WHERE OUR SPECIALISTS WILL MODEL THE TEACHING AND THE TEACHER WILL TEACH IT IN AN OPEN FOR NEXT ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAVE GONE WELL,

[00:20:05]

WHAT NEEDS TO BE BETTER.

JUST COACHING THEM THROUGH EACH STEP.

AND WE DID NOT RETAIN THE NUMBER OF TEACHERS THAT WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE OCCURRED IN THE LAST YEAR.

WE HAD MANY TEACHERS WHO ARE ABSURD OR THIS IS THEIR FIRST TEACHING EXPERIENCE.

SO HAVING THOSE CURRICULUM SPECIALIST ALONGSIDE EVERY DAY IS ESSENTIAL TO THEIR SUCCESSES HERE.

ANY QUESTIONS THAT I CAN ANSWER?

>> I'M JUST CURIOUS ABOUT WHY I DIDN'T KNOW WHEN TO RETURN IN READING AND MATH, DID THEY GIVE THE REASON ARE THESE BURNOUT OR WITH [OVERLAPPING].

>> EACH PERSON HAS THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL REASONS.

BUT I CAN TELL YOU FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

THE IMPACT OF THE CAMPUSES IS FOR IMPROVEMENT IS A LOT, IS EXTRA WORK, IS EXTRA TIME, IS EXTRA STRESS.

RTKS LOVED ARE CURRENTLY CAN'T.

I CAN TELL YOU THAT THEY DID.

BUT WORKINGS AND A SCORE LIKE CANVAS IS TAXED AND DIFFICULT ON EVERYONE INVOLVED.

IT'S HARD FOR THE KIDS BECAUSE THERE ARE THOSE ADDITIONAL DIMENSION OR SO MANDATED TESTING.

STATE REQUIRES THAT TO TEST OTHER DON'T HAVE TO TAKE.

SO THERE'S A WIDE ON DEMAND AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SUSTAIN YOUR ENERGY LEVEL IS DIFFICULT TO SUSTAIN THAT LEVEL OF COMMITMENT.

YOU ALL JUST TO BE VERY LONG, IT'S A MARKET FOR TEACHERS AND EVERYONE'S COMPETING TO GET THE BEST TEACHER.

WE FELT LIKE THE STAFF AT KIRBY ARE ENTHUSIASTIC THIS YEAR.

THEY'RE READY TO LEARN, ARE EAGER TO DO ANYTHING THAT CAN HELP.

WE DO HAVE SYSTEMS IN PLACE THAT WE NOW SUPPORT THEM AND HELP THEM GET THROUGH THE YEAR AND SEE HER KIDS SUCCESSFUL.

>> STIGMA TO CANVAS.

>> AND I ASSUME THE PRINCIPAL SHIP WAS HIS.

>> DIFFICULTIES WITH SOCIAL GROUP THING THAT'S RELATED TO THE READINGS?

>> YES, MA'AM. I KNOW IT'S LIKE YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO TRUST TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

[NOISE] ABSOLUTELY. ANYTHING ELSE?

>> NO, IT'S EXPLAINED IT TO [INAUDIBLE] I HAD SEVERAL TEACHERS SAYING, AND TO YOU TOO, MS. DEBRI.

THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF THAT HAVE A JOB NEXT YEAR BECAUSE IT PROBABLY CLOSES AND IT'S TAKEN THEM ABOUT STATE AND THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR JOB WHICH WE CAN'T BLAME THEM FOR THAT.

SOME OF THE OTHER CAMPUSES, THEY PLUCK THE BEST TEACHERS AWAY AND WE DON'T BLAME HIM FOR DOING THAT EITHER, BUT WE'VE GOT TO MAKE HER BE GREAT WHERE THEY'RE NOT GOING TO THE TRANSFER PORTAL.

>> IS THERE ANY INCENTIVE GIVEN TO THE TEACHERS THAT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN THROUGH?

>> WE DO HAVE HIGH OFF ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGE [INAUDIBLE] INCENTIVE FOR TEACHERS AT THOSE CAMPUSES [INAUDIBLE].

>> IT'S NOT A HUGE ROLE TO THEM BUT IT'S A THANK YOU.

>> I HAD THE SAME QUESTION ABOUT IT, HEAR YOUR ANSWER.

>> SORRY. [OVERLAPPING]

>> I ASKED MY CHILDREN.

I'M TAKING OUT VERY LOUD TODAY.

WE DO HAVE A HIGH ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED INCENTIVE PROGRAM IN PLACE IN THEIR DISTRICT, FOR TEACHERS ON THOSE CAMPUSES WHO HAVE A HIGH POPULATION IN POVERTY, AND KIRBY TEACHERS ARE PARTICIPATING IN THAT, BUT IT'S NOT A HUGE DOLLAR AMOUNT, IT'S MORE OF A THANK YOU.

>> I JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I THINK THAT THIS IS RIGHT.

THE GROWTH THAT WE SAW, IN READING AND MATH AND IT WAS GREAT AND IT IS TWO METERS.

I'M SO PROUD THE TEACHERS THAT WORKED SO HARD IN A CURRICULUM SPECIALIST AND EVERY ONE WHO PITCHED IN AND OUT THERE AND DID SUCH A GREAT JOB.

WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THE GOALPOST IS YET, BUT WHEN WE FIND OUT, I JUST BELIEVE THAT I STILL HAVE HOPE THAT WE WILL BE RIGHT THERE AT THE GOAL POSTS GOING ON.

>> IT'S ALWAYS HEARTENING TO SEE OUR PROGRESS. WE ALWAYS WANT MORE.

[OVERLAPPING] EVERY KID IS DOING HURRY.

BUT I'M VERY PROUD OF THAT I EVER DID LAST YEAR AND THAT WAS DONE THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF OUR TEACHERS.

I BELIEVE THEM SPECIALISTS.

ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT.

NOW WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT, ALL [OVERLAPPING] RETIREES, ALL OUR CLERICAL STAFF, AND OUR SPECIALISTS SUPPORT STAFF [OVERLAPPING].

>> THE PERIOD REALLY REALIZE THAT THEY WENT TO [INAUDIBLE].

>> YES, WE DID.

>> WE'VE TALKED TO THE KIDS ABOUT HOW WELL THEY DO IT

[00:25:03]

AND HOW WE'RE JUST GOING TO BUILD ON THAT SUCCESS.

[INAUDIBLE] I KNEW YOU'D HAVE ONE OTHER THING TO SHARE WITH YOU.

MR. DALE HATHAWAY [INAUDIBLE] PRINCIPAL AT KIRBY.

I'M EXCITED TO SAY THAT HE'S GOING TO STAY WITH THIS ISSUE, HE WILL BE YOUR PRINCIPAL GOING FORWARD, AND I'D LIKE YOU TO LET HIM STEP UP AND INTRODUCE HIMSELF AND TELL A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HIM AND THE WORK THAT HE'S ALREADY DOING FOR US.

>> GOOD AFTERNOON YOU ALL.

MY NAME IS DALE HATHAWAY.

I'M A 27 YEAR VETERAN OF EDUCATION.

MOST OF IT 26.5 OF THAT IN ADMINISTRATION.

I TOOK PROBABLY THE QUICKEST ROUTE INTO ADMINISTRATION IF ANYBODY IN HISTORY TAKES, [LAUGHTER] FOUR MONTHS OF MY CAREER, I BECAME A [INAUDIBLE].

HAVE HAD A LOT OF EXPERIENCE, AND THE SECOND TIME I'VE BEEN AN INTERIM PRINCIPAL.

BACK LATE AUGUST WHEN MS. DEBRI CALLED ME, AND ASKED IF I CONSIDER TO BE AN INTERIM AND I SAID YES, I'M RETIRED.

DECEMBER OF 2021, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GO INTO THE FOOD BUSINESS AND ANYWAY.

[LAUGHTER] ALL THAT BEING SAID, SHE CALLED AND ASKED IF I WOULD BE THE INTERIM AND I TOLD HER I WOULD, SO AUGUST 28, I STEPPED FOOT ON CAMPUS AND JUST STARTED LOOKING AROUND JUST OBSERVED ON THAT MONDAY.

THEN MONDAY EVENING AFTER THE KIDS DISMISSED, I SAT DOWN WITH SOME OF THE STAFFS THAT'S THERE AND WE VISITED.

ON DAY 2, WE STARTED MAKING CHANGES.

THE FIRST THING WE DID WAS CHANGE UP THE CAFETERIA PROCEDURES.

AS MUCH GROWTH AS THE KIDS MADE, THERE'S STILL SOME BOUNDARIES THAT NEEDED TO BE SENT IN THE COMMON AREAS.

WE IMPLEMENTED SOME STRUCTURAL CHANGES AND SOME BOUNDARIES FOR THE KIDS ON DAY 2 AND WE WORKED AND, WORKED AND, WORKED AND, WE SAW SOME CHANGE WE'VE SEEN SOME SIGNIFICANT CHANGE AS FAR AS ATTITUDES AND RULES ARE GOING.

THAT'S WHERE WE STARTED. IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR WITH THE KIRBY CAMPUS FOREVER, IT WAS A ONE-WAY IN THE HALLWAYS, AND THAT CHANGED THIS YEAR.

I WAS ON THE KIRBY CAMPUS VARIOUS TIMES THROUGHOUT 2022, AND SAW THAT ONE WAY.

WELL THEN WHEN I WAS THERE AND SAW THAT THEY WERE GOING BOTH WAYS, WE HAVE TRAFFIC JAMS, THE KIDS WERE ALL GATHERING IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS.

A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, WE MADE THAT TRANSITION AND WE MOVED THEM TO GOING ONE WAY.

MOST OF THE KIDS THANKFULLY, LIVED THAT PATTERN LAST YEAR, SO IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG FOR THEM TO GET BACK IN THAT ROUTINE.

THAT ALLOWED US TO ADDRESS THE TARDY ISSUES THAT WE HAD MOVED TO IN CLASSES.

THE KIDS WANT TO HANG OUT.

THERE'S A LOT OF BLIND SPOTS ON THE KIRBY CAMPUS.

THOSE KIDS LIVES IN A HURRY.

SO WE'RE WORKING ON SOME PROCEDURAL CHANGES AND WORKING ON OUR TARDY AND ATTENDANCE.

WE ARE IN THAT RISK COORDINATOR, MR. RONNIE WILLIAMS, SOME OF YOU PROBABLY FAMILIAR WITH HIM.

BUT THE FOURTH DAY I WAS THERE, MR [INAUDIBLE] INVITED HIM TO COME UP AND HE GOT OUT OF HIS TRUCK, JUMPED IN AND WE STARTED TO MOVE MUST BE TOGETHER.

IN ABOUT THE SIXTH DAY, I ASKED IF THERE WAS A WAY WE COULD GET HIM HIRED AND GET HIM ON BECAUSE JUST THE WAY HE WORKS AND WHERE HE DEALS WITH THE KIDS, IT'S REALLY GOOD, SO WE'RE VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE HIM BACK.

WE CHANGED SOME THINGS UP.

I SAY WE CHANGED IT, SOMETIMES WE CHANGED BEFORE I GOT THERE AS FAR AS CLASSROOM SETTINGS.

WE'VE MODIFIED THAT, WE HAD TWO SCIENCE CLASSROOMS THAT WEREN'T USED FOR SCIENCE CLASSROOMS. I UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY TRIED TO DO, THEY TRY TO MAKE A SIXTH GRADE WING AND SEVENTH GRADE WING AND EIGHTH GRADE WING.

BUT IT TOOK TWO SIDES, LABS OUT OF THE ROTATION.

BEING AN [INAUDIBLE] SCHOOL PA COMES IN AND LOOKED AT THEIR FIRST LANGUAGE.

WHEN I ASK, HOW COME YOU'RE NOT HAVE THAT SCIENCE IN THIS CLASSROOM? WE ARE NOW IN SCIENCE CLASSROOMS. WE HAD SOME SURPLUS TEACHERS IN THE DISTRICT, AND WE'D BEEN FITTED WITH A SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER IN A MATH TEACHER.

THEY'D COME IN AND WE MADE SOME CHANGES.

WE'RE TRYING TO GET THOSE CHANGES MADE, AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE FOR THESE KIDS DON'T HAVE TO CONTINUE TO FACE CHANGE.

WE WANT TO GET STABLE AND WE WANT TO GET OUR ROUTINES IN PLACE.

WE'VE GOT TWO NEW TEACHERS THAT ARE GETTING READY TO COME ON BOARD WITH US.

ONE IS GOING TO HELP IN OUR SPECIAL ED AREA WITH INCLUSION, AND THEN ANOTHER ONE IS GOING TO BE A MATH TEACHER AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT THEM.

[00:30:05]

THEY'RE GOING TO BE TWO YOUNG NEW TEACHERS.

WHEN YOU RECRUIT TEACHERS, YOU HAVE TO ASK THEM ALL THESE QUESTIONS.

THEN WHEN THEY HAVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU, IT JUST MAKES ME FEEL GOOD THAT THEY INVESTIGATED WHERE KIRBY WAS.

THEY KNEW ABOUT KIRBY MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT IT.

I'M EXCITED TO GET THEM ON BOARD.

IT'S A TOUGH PLACE.

BUT JUST WITH A LITTLE BIT OF WORK, A LITTLE BIT OF FOCUS, I THINK WE WILL MOVE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

THE GROWTH THAT YOU ALL SAW ON THE DATA RIGHT HERE, THAT'S WHAT WE WANT TO CONTINUE THE GROWTH.

GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY I THINK WE WILL.

>> THERE'S JUST ONE THING THAT CONCERNS ME.

YOU SAID, MS. DEBRI, GAVE YOU A CALL.

HAVE YOU MET OUR WONDERFUL HR DIRECTOR? [LAUGHTER].

>> [INAUDIBLE] THEY'RE LISTENING. WE'RE GLAD TO HAVE YOU.

>> PRETTY GOOD. IF I CAN HIRE, I WOULD [OVERLAPPING].

>> THAT WON'T BE THOUGH.

>> I WOULDN'T MAKE [INAUDIBLE].

>> WE THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT JOB YOU'RE DOING OVER THERE.

>> THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH.

>> WE APPRECIATE YOU.

>> NEXT IS OUR MOST WONDERFUL FINANCIAL SECTOR.

[VI. FINANCIAL SERVICES]

LEAH, READY FOR YOU?

>> THREE MINUTE CLOCK.

>> SO I GUESS SHE'S ONLY GIVING ME THREE.

[LAUGHTER] THE ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION THAT THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVES THE ATTACHED YEAR-TO-DATE FINANCIAL REPORTS AND INVESTMENT REPORTS AS SUBMITTED ABOUT THE IMPORTANT CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND RECOMMENDED BY DR. GHANI AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS.

THE FOLLOWING ATTACHMENTS RECORD THE REVENUE EXPENDITURE POSITION THROUGH AUGUST 31ST, 2023 FOR ALL FUNDS.

AS FOR THE GENERAL FUND, REVENUES WERE 1.67% LAST YEAR COMPARED WITH 1.41 THIS YEAR.

EXPENDITURES ARE 15.58% LAST YEAR COMPARED TO 13.17% THIS YEAR.

>> WE NEED A MOTION TO APPROVE.

>> I MOVE THAT WE APPROVE THIS

>> I SECOND THAT.

>>MOTION SECOND. ANY QUESTIONS? WE'LL MAKE IT EASY ON THEM. NOW, EVERY TIME SHE SAID, I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU REALLY. [OVERLAPPING] [LAUGHTER]

>> WE HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND TO ACCEPT THE FINANCIAL REPORTS AS OF AUGUST THE 31ST, 2023. ALL IN FAVOR SAY AYE.

>> AYE. [OVERLAPPING]

>> ALL OPPOSED. SEEING NONE, MOTION CARRIES.

>> RECOMMENDATION THAT THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVES THE ATTACHED BUDGET AMENDMENTS TO THE 23, 24 BUDGETS AS DETAILED ON THE ATTACHED BUDGET AMENDMENT REPORT.

THESE AMENDMENTS ARE SUBMITTED BY WICHITA CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND RECOMMENDED BY DR. DONNELLY, SUPERINTENDENT SCHOOLS.

GENERAL OPERATING REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES TO REFLECT.

NO CHANGE BUT RESULT IN A DEFICIT BUDGET OF $1 MILLION.

THAT IS DUE TO THE INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE FROM THE STORE MANAGER.

>> THIS IS ANOTHER ACTION ITEM.

>> I MAKE A MOTION THAT WE APPROVE THE BUDGET AMENDMENT.

>> THE SECOND. MOTION IN THE SECOND TO PRINT THE SEPTEMBER 2023 BUDGET AMENDMENT.

ANY QUESTIONS? I'LL JUST SAY THAT THESE ARE PRETTY COMMON AT THIS TIME OF YEAR, BECAUSE THEY'RE LOOKING AT THEIR BUDGET AND THEIR SHORT WHERE THEY MONEY TO SETTLE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.

>> AYE. [OVERLAPPING]

>>> ALL THOSE OPPOSED. MOTION PASSES.

>> ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION THAT THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVE THE RESELL BID AT FLORAL-FREE CALIFORNIA STREET TO HEAL HARTY AND ANDREW SCANNER HAS SUBMITTED BY ALL IMPORTANT CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND RECOMMENDED BY DR. DONNELLY VIRGINIA SCHOOLS.

LOOKING AT THIS, THE PROPERTY WAS TAKEN OFF THE TAXES BACK IN APRIL OF 2016, AND IN ORDER FOR US TO SELL THIS, THE BOARD MUST APPROVE THE PROPERTY.

>> I'LL MAKE A MOTION THAT WE ACCEPT THE BID AS PRESENTED.

>> I SECOND.

>> MOTION AND SECOND FOR THE RESALE BIT OF PROPERTY LOCATED WITHIN THE WICHITA FALLS ISD.

DO WE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS? SURE YOU ALL LOOK AT THE PICTURE.

[00:35:02]

[OVERLAPPING] [LAUGHTER] ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE?

>> AYE. [OVERLAPPING]

>> OPPOSED.

>> THE ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION THAT THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES AWARD THE PURCHASES FROM VENDORS LISTED BELOW FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF BOND [INAUDIBLE] PURCHASES MADE AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL ESTIMATED BY THE IMPORTANT CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND RECOMMENDED BY DR. DONNELLY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS.

THIS IS ALL BOND BUDGETED ISD EXPENDITURES THAT WILL BE COMING TO YOU PROBABLY EVERY MONTH OLD, ANYTHING OVER 100,000.

>> THIS IS ALSO AN ACTION. [BACKGROUND]

>> I HAD A QUESTION ON WAS THE [OVERLAPPING].

I'M GOING TO WAIT FOR MY QUESTION.

>> WE AWARD THE PURCHASES FROM GETTING NURSES ALLOWED TO FULFILL THE BOND ENACTING PURCHASES FOR THIS DISTRICT.

>> SECOND.

>> I SECOND.

>> NOW MR. JOHNSON.

>> HAD TO DO WITH THE BEND LIFTS.

WOULD GO BACK IN THERE.

[NOISE] IT SHOWS COST PER CAMPUS OF 131372, TOTAL COST 271.

I'M NOT CATCHING THE GAP.

>> EXHIBIT DELIVERY CHARGE FOR MR. [INAUDIBLE].

>> YES.

>> THEN IT'S COST PER CAMPUS AT 131.

IF YOU GO DOWN TO [NOISE] AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS MATTERS, IT DOESN'T IMMATURE, MAYBE IMMATERIAL.

IF YOU GO SCROLL DOWN.

WHAT 31 ON THE SUMMARY SHOWS 132. KEEP SCROLLING.

TO SEE THAT. NOW IT WAS UP AT THE LL.

>> THAT'S DIFFERENT.

>> WONDER WEIGHT PER CAMPUS HERE.

[BACKGROUND] IT MAY NOT BE MATERIAL BECAUSE YOU SAID THERE WERE SOME OTHER CHARGES IN CARE DELIVERY AND SOME OTHER THINGS.

>> WE DID INITIALLY WERE PURCHASING ONE AND THEN IT WAS CHANGED TO TWO.

PERHAPS AND THE AGENDA ITEM, I DIDN'T TRANSFER BOTH NUMBERS WELL.

THERE WILL BE A DIFFERENCE IN THE FRAME DEPENDING ON WHETHER THEY CAN SHIP THEM TOGETHER OR NOT.

WE'LL SEE [INAUDIBLE].

>> BUT IN THE SUMMARY, WHAT WE'RE TAKING THE ACTION ON, THAT'S THE CORRECT AMOUNT.

>> $271, $245 IS CORRECT AMOUNTS OF BOTH OF THEM.

WE ORIGINALLY WERE GOING ABOVE ONE AND THEN THEY CAME TO LOWER COSTS.

THEN WE REALIZE WE ACTUALLY BUDGETED FOR ONE PER CAMPUS.. THAT'S WHY WE ADD IN THE SECOND ONE IN.

>> I'M IMPRESSED THAT YOU'VE CAUGHT THAT.

>> WHAT ARE THESE USED FOR? WHAT WOULD IT BE USED FOR?

>> THOSE LIVES [OVERLAPPING].

>> HE FINDS ITS WAY UP.

>> INSIDE THE BUILDING TO CHANGE LIVES, TO CHANGE [INAUDIBLE].

IT WAS EITHER BOUND ONE AND PUT IT ON A TRAILER AND DRIVE IT BACK AND FORTH OR BOUND ONE FOR EACH CAMPUS.

THERE'S A STORAGE AREA THAT THEY'RE BROKEN THE STORED IN THESE COMBINED IT'S ON THE CORRECT.

>> YEAH. IT'S HELPFUL TO STUDENTS AT HAND.

WHEN YOU GO OUT TOMORROW AND YOU'LL SEE CERTAIN AREAS THAT WE GOT GOOD WAY UP THERE.

>> SURE, THAT MAKES SENSE.

THE FIRST ONE IS THAT THE WICHITA FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES REVIEW THEIR VISIONS OF DEC LOCAL POLICY.

I SUBMITTED BY THE ORTHOPEDIC SERVICE ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT AS RECOMMENDED BY DR. DONNELLY THE SUPERINTENDENT SCHOOLS.

THIS IS DUE TO THE CHANGES IN THE LAW [INAUDIBLE] 11486 AND [INAUDIBLE] 471 TAB YOU HAD RECOMMENDED CHANGES TO THE DEC LOCAL REVISION INCLUDING MENTAL HEALTH AND ILLNESS OR INJURY LEAVE OF ABSENCE.

[BACKGROUND] BECAUSE THE FIRST READING SO [INAUDIBLE].

THE REASON WHY I'M NOT MENTIONED HEROIN ADDICTS AND WE DO NOT HAVE THE ACTUAL CASH VALUE.

ONCE WE HAVE AN ACTUAL CASH VALUE OF APPAREL, WE'LL COME BACK FOR THAT.

RIGHT NOW. IT'S JUST CURRENTLY [INAUDIBLE].

>> ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT.

>> [INAUDIBLE] ONE MIGHT COME BACK TO IT.

WE HAVE ANOTHER STOLEN OR WHATEVER [INAUDIBLE] SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

>> BECAUSE, I MEAN, WE STILL CURRENTLY [OVERLAPPING] HAVE OUT THERE.

CURRENTLY STILL BUILDING IS STILL THERE.

>> BECAUSE WE DIDN'T GET TO ATTACK SOMEONE BUILDINGS AND WE ADD TO IT.

>> THAT'S GOING TO BE FURTHER DISCUSSION BECAUSE ONCE YOU GUYS APPROVE THIS NEXT WEEK, WE HAVE A HERSHEY MIDDLE-SCHOOL BEGINNING OF HERSHEY MIDDLE-SCHOOL LOOK, TAKING SOME A TEAM OF DISTRICT AND CAMPUS INDIVIDUALS OUT THERE.

TO SEE HOW THAT BREEDS AND HOW THEY'VE GOTTEN MORE EXCITING, ENGAGING CAMPUS FOR THOSE STUDENTS.

THEN WE'RE ALSO GOING TO BE REQUESTING THAT EVENTUALLY YOU NEED TO BRING THE TENDON ZONE COMMITTEE BACK AGAIN BECAUSE WE CAN START HAVING THAT CONVERSATION ABOUT THE NEXT ROUNDS OF CLOSURE CONSOLIDATIONS.

THIS IS JUST CONTINUE ON WITH OUR PLAN OF A TIGHTENING OF THE SHIP.

>> ANY MORE QUESTIONS? [BACKGROUND]

>> HERE'S ACTUALLY ONE FOR VOTE, WHICH FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVED YOUR CLASS EXCEPTION WAIVERS FOR COUNSELING ONLY ATTACHED TO THIS ESTIMATED BY DR. PETER, ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT RECOMMENDED BY DR. DIANE, THE SUIT DENTAL SCHOOLS.

CLASS SIZE EXCEPTION WAIVERS MUST BE REQUESTED OR ANY CLASS IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADE EXCEEDS A ONE-TO-TWO RATIO.

WE HAVE SIX CLASSES AT TWO CAMPUS I'VE WORKED FOR A WAIVER.

SOUTHERN HILLS, WE HAVE TO BILINGUALS AND THE PARENT, THE TEACHER AND THE PRINCIPAL ALL AGREED WITH THIS, WHICH SURPRISED ME WHETHER THEY WERE GOOD WITH THAT.

THEN OUR THIRD GRADE,

[00:45:01]

AS YOU SEE, THEY'RE ALL OVER.

>> THAT'S WHY THE 24 AND 17, WHY DON'T YOU JUST MOVE SOME [OVERLAPPING].

>> AND THOSE PARENTS WANTED THEM, AND THE SIBLINGS ALSO.

SO THE [OVERLAPPING].

>> MR. JOHNSON, I APOLOGIZE.

I DID JUST WANT TO CALL YOU ON THE CARPET.

>> YES. TO QUESTION [OVERLAPPING] OR YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED [LAUGHTER] WE HAVE A MOTION.

>> I'LL MAKE A MOTION THAT WE ACCEPT THE WAIVERS, APPROVE THE WAIVERS.

>> NOW, ARE THERE ANY MORE QUESTIONS? ALL THOSE IN FAVOR SAY AYE.

>> AYE.

>> I OPPOSE SAME TIME AS IT'S FIVE TO ZERO.

>> THIS IS FOR DISCUSSION.

I'M SORRY, MICHELLE BALLS AND EVENTS SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES DISCUSS THE RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD TO EMPLOY OR ACCEPT A VOLUNTEER CHAPLAINS ESTIMATED BY DR. PETER DOES ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT, AND AS RECOMMENDED BY DR. DOMINI, SUPERINTENDENT SCHOOLS, INSTEAD OF BELOW 763, JUST PASS REQUIRES EACH SCHOOL BOARD TO TAKE A RECORD VOTE BETWEEN SEPTEMBER 1ST THROUGH MARCH 2024 ON WHETHER TO ADOPT A POLICY AUTHORIZING THE CAMPUS OF THE DISTRICT EMPLOYEE OR AS A VOLUNTEER AT CHAPLIN UNDER EDUCATION COVID.

THIS IS FOR DISCUSSION ONLY.

THIS IS TO PUT THIS ON YOUR RADAR.

I'M JUST PRICE ALL THE RESOLUTION IN THE BACK.

YOU HAVE THREE CHOICES.

YOU ACCEPT IT, YOU UNACCEPT IT, OR WE ALREADY HAVE, OR YOU DON'T ALREADY HAVE IT.

WE DO HAVE INDIVIDUALS ON PASTORS AND CHAPLAINS THAT DO COME ON TO THE CAMPUS AND DURING LAUNCH AND THEY TALK TO KIDS.

THIS IS A LITTLE MORE FORMAL.

I THINK THAT'S A DISCUSSION THAT YOU GUYS NEED TO ADD, YOU HAVE VALUE, YOU HAVE LATER.

BUT EVENTUALLY YOU NEED TO TAKE A VOTE ON THIS. IF YOU GUYS WANT TO HEAR.

>> WHAT'S MY QUESTION ARE THEY NODDING NOMINATION WHEN THEY COME ON CAMPUS?

>> IT CAN BE ANYTHING.

>> THEN OTHER THAN, WHAT WHAT ARE THEIR ROLES?

>> CURRENTLY THE GOAL IS SERVE AS A COUNSELOR.

I THINK SOME DISTRICTS THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH COUNSELORS. WE DO.

THAT'S SERVICE HAS ASKED.

IF YOU'RE HAVING TO DEFEND THE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL ISSUES, THEY MAY TALK TO THE PASTOR OR A CHAPLAIN THAT'S BEEN HIRED OR DESIGNATED AS A VOLUNTEER.

>> DO PARENTS UNDERSTAND THAT OR NO THAT THEIR KIDS WOULD BE TALKING? I HAD A RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND, I WOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE FOR ME, BUT I JUST THINK ABOUT OTHERS AND THAT WOULD BE SOMEWHAT RELIGIOUS BACK AND LIVE WITH ASKING PERMISSION FIRST FOR LIKE IF THE KIDS NEEDED HELP WITH SOMETHING.

>> THEY PROBABLY ALL AREAS THAT WE REALLY NEED TO.

>> YEAH.

>> I PUT SOME KIND OF PARAMETERS.

YOU GUYS, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO DO SOMETHING WHERE I ALLOW IT OR I OPT OUT OF HAVING THIS BE TO CERTAIN CHAPLAINS AND THEN THAT'S A DISCUSSION YOU GUYS NEED TO HAVE IS LIKE HOW YOU MOLD THAT DISCUSSION.

>> TO DO LIKE [INAUDIBLE] I'M OVER TO THE SCHOOL AND THEN GO IN.

AND THERE'S NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE PAST.

>> THERE ARE KIDS THAT DON'T LIKE THAT.

WHICH IS I THINK MAYBE IT SAYS MOSTLY OUR COMMUNITY, WE SUPPORT THAT.

THEY JUST SAY ANYTHING.

I JUST MEANS THIS. I WAS VERY RELIGIOUS, BUT I ALSO WANT TO BE SENSITIVE ON BOTH SIDES TO MAKE SURE THAT WE WEREN'T MAKING ANYBODY UNCOMFORTABLE.

BUT ALSO THERE COULD BE A REALLY AWESOME ROLE FOR THAT AS WELL.

>> I THINK WE HAVE TO CONSIDER THE WORDING POLICY.

WHERE I CAN SEE THERE BE A BENEFIT HERE, WOULD BE IN CRISIS.

SNOWED IN THIS WAY.

THIS WOULD ALLOW THEM TO BE IN WE MADE IT ACROSS A SITUATION WHERE THE [OVERLAPPING]

>> SLOPE WOULD MEMBERS TOGETHER BLOW UP [INAUDIBLE]

>> AGAIN, IT GOES BACK TO THEM WHO'S GOING TO MONITOR THE HAND AND JUST TALK TO HIM AND ALL THE KIDS.

HE'S GOING TO HAVE THIS KID'S NOT SUPPOSED TO TALK TO THAT THING BECAUSE THEY USUALLY JUST GO INTO THE CAFETERIA.

BUT THAT'S YOU NEED TO DISCUSS IT.

>> YOU HAVE TIME UP UNTIL MARCH.

BUT THANKS FOR PROCESSING LOT OF DISTRICTS ARE JULIANA.

>> KEEP THEM WHEN I MET HER. [LAUGHTER]

>> YES. THAT'S IT.

>> THANK YOU BRIAN. GOOD REVIEW.

>> THE HARD WAY.

[VIII. HUMAN RESOURCES]

>> THE BAND HALF [LAUGHTER] DOES NOT HERE.

>> WHY THEY REALLY HIGH BOYS,

[00:50:01]

WOULD YOU SAY THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP ME HERE, LET ME GO. [BACKGROUND] HERE.

THEY SUBMITTED SINCE THE LAST BOARD MEETING.

RESIGNATION, RETIREMENTS AND ACCEPTED BY DR.

DOUG SCHOOLS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS AND POLICY DFE.

>> ANY QUESTION IS NOT ANY HARD TO SEE THIS KIRBY.

[BACKGROUND]

>> SHE'S GOING THAT WAY.

[LAUGHTER]

>> WHEREAS THEY LET YOU HAVE THAT FULL YEAR AND MAYBE IT WORKS AGAINST US.

>> SHE MAKES ABSENT.

>> THEN LASTLY, THE APPLICANT POOL IS ADMINISTRATIVE RECOMMENDATION THAT EACH HAVE FALLS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPROVES THE PROPOSED APPLICANT POOL ESTIMATED BY DATA OR TO WHAT? DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND AS RECOMMENDED BY DR. DON HALEY'S SCHOOLS.

>> MAKE MOTION. I DON'T.

>> MAKE A MOTION TO BE PRETTY WEAK SENSE TO ME APPROVE.

YES, THE BURDEN OF PROOF, EXTINCTION IN CONTRAST TO THESE INDIVIDUALS.

>> ANY SECOND?

>> I SECOND.

>> ANY QUESTIONS? WHERE WOULD BE THE CIRCLE?

>> [INAUDIBLE]

>> THE MAJORITY OF THEM ARE JUST LEAVING DUE TO FINANCIAL ISSUES.

IS NOT ANYTHING THAT NONE OF THEM HAVE SAID THAT THEY ARE UNHAPPY WITH THE DECISION, HOW THEY REVIEWED IT OR ANYTHING ALONG THOSE LINES.

IT'S JUST THAT MOST OF THEM WERE HAVING TO HAVE A SECOND JOB ON THE SIDE AND THEY HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MOVE UP WITHIN THEIR SECOND JOB AND SO THEY WERE ABLE TO BE OURS COMPLETELY ENROLLEES, BUT I JUST FELT LIKE THEY NEEDED TO FULFILL THE REQUIREMENTS OF THEIR SECOND JOB.

>> WE'D HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND TO APPROVE THE APPLICANT POOL IS IN IT, ALTHOUGH THE PROPOSE SAY AYE.

>> AYE.

>> PROPOSE. THAT'S IS FIVE ZERO.

THANK YOU MRS HARDAWAY.

MINUTES FROM SEPTEMBER.
